Joint exercise “Lightning Strike 2021“ begins
In accordance with the directive from the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, President Aleksandar Vučić, the exercise focused on testing the combat readiness of the Serbian Armed Forces’ commands, units and institutions began early this morning.
The purpose of the exercise is to check the level of operational capabilities of the General Staff, commands and units, i.e. their ability to execute assigned tasks. The exercise began by alerting more than 15,000 members of the Serbian Armed Forces.
This morning's activities are an introduction to the joint live fire exercise "Lightning Strike 2021", which is being conducted in eight locations throughout the Republic of Serbia by units of the Army, Air Force and Air Defence, 72nd Special Operations Brigade and 63rd Parachute Brigade.
Several tactical exercises and live fire exercises will be conducted, and the most complex will be a joint live fire exercise conducted by a reinforced tactical group. This exercise, focusing on performing an offensive operation, will be conducted on 27 June at the "Pešter" temporary range. On that occasion, SAF units will demonstrate to top government officials their determination, competence, firepower and high level of cooperation and joint action in responding to challenges, risks and threats to national security.
Upon the completion of the exercise, on 28 June, an open day will be organized in Kragujevac, where the citizens will have the opportunity to see the display of the latest military technology used by the Serbian Armed Forces as well as the equipment that is still under development.
