The Chief of the Defence Staff of the French Armed Forces, General of the Army François Lecointre, is on an official visit to Serbia at the invitation of the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.
The aim of the visit is to discuss the current political and security situation in the region, exchange experiences related to the involvement of the armed forces in the fight against Covid-19 and consider opportunities for further improvement of cooperation between the Serbian and French Armed Forces.

During his one-day visit to Serbia, General Lecointre had separate meetings with the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.

At the meeting, the two generals discussed the current security situation in the region and the possibilities for improving bilateral military cooperation. It was concluded that the most concrete results, when it comes to military to military cooperation, could be achieved through joint participation in multinational operations and joint trainings and exercises. Special attention was paid to the possibility of including the Serbian Armed Forces personnel in the Takuba Task Force, which is led by France and provides assistance to the Malian Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.
They agreed that the existing bilateral military cooperation was substantial and that there was a potential for its further improvement. According to them, joint activities give a special quality to cooperation, because they contribute to the development of trust, improvement of relations, and the achievement of interoperability and the improvement of operational capabilities of both countries’ armed forces.
