Meeting between Strategic Planning Department and European Defence Agency delegation
Representatives of the MoD Defence Policy Sector’s Strategic Planning Department, headed by Colonel Slaven Vujić, held a meeting today via video link with the delegation representing the European Defence Agency headed by Etienne de Durand, head of the Chief Executive's Policy Office at European Defence Agency.
At the meeting initiated by the European Defence Agency, strategic documents were presented - the National Security Strategy and the Defence Strategy of the Republic of Serbia, which were adopted by the National Assembly on 27 December 2019.It was emphasized at the meeting that the Republic of Serbia closely monitored the changes in the environment and adjusted its security and defence policy to those changes, in order to best defend and further its national and defence interests.
It was also emphasized that the Republic of Serbia, which was committed to military neutrality, was determined to strengthen its defence capacities and develop the defence industry, efficient and economically sustainable defence system, professional and efficient armed forces, capabilities in accordance with the Serbian Armed Forces’ missions and tasks, transparency of defence affairs and appropriate civil-military relations as important preconditions for a democratic society.
The discussion included important topics for further development of defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest under the Administrative Arrangement between the European Defence Agency and the Serbian Ministry of Defence.
