UK Defence Secretary’s first visit to Serbia announced

As part of bilateral consultations on security and defence policy between the Republic of Serbia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland that are being held in Belgrade, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, talked today to UK’s Euro-Atlantic Security Policy Unit Director David Hogan-Hern.

Britain has confirmed its decision to extend its participation in KFOR until 2023 and increase the number of troops in its contingent.
The interlocutors also emphasized the importance of promoting military-economic cooperation, and agreed that there was a need for a closer high-level dialogue.

It was pointed out at the meeting that the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan and the results of bilateral consultations on security and defence policy provided a sound basis for the UK Defence Secretary’s visit to the Republic of Serbia this year.

Stefanović and Hogan-Hern talked about "Platinum Wolf", the upcoming multinational exercise that will be held in Serbia in June, with 70 members of the British Armed Forces participating. The UK side announced that UK Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace would attend the exercise’s distinguished visitors’ day.
