Minister Stefanović: We are proud of Jovana Preković’s success
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, talked today to Jovana Preković, member of the MOD’s Sports Unit, who is the current world karate champion. Stefanović pointed out that the Ministry of Defence was proud of having Jovana Preković in its ranks and thanked her for representing our country in the world with dignity.
“I am genuinely happy about each success of our young people in green uniform; they are the future of Serbia. I am grateful to them for persistently proving that they are always ready to be there for their country and for building up its reputation in the world. I would especially like to thank Jovana for passing on her knowledge and skills to our Military Academy cadets, who have the opportunity to be coached by none other than the world champion“, Stefanović said.
Ms. Preković, who won a gold medal in the Karate Premiere League finals in Istanbul three days ago, thanked Minister Stefanović for tremendous support from the Ministry of Defence. She said that in the following two months, she would compete in the Premiere League in Lisbon and the European Championship in Poreč, and later in the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Namely, she has qualified for the upcoming Olympic Games, along with competitors from only seven other countries.
Minister of Defence emphasized that qualifying for the Olympics was a great success in itself, and wished Jovana success in all upcoming competitions.
