Military schools observe their Patron Saint Day
Military Grammar School and Secondary Vocational Military School celebrated today St. Sava Day, the patron saint of Serbian schools, the founder of education and Serbia’s first archbishop.
The celebration of St. Sava Day at the Military Grammar School was attended by Assistant Minister for Human Resources Katarina Tomašević, Rector of the University of Defence, Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović, PhD, Asst. Prof., Commandant of the Military Academy, Major General Bojan Zrnić PhD, Prof., and Military Grammar School and Secondary Vocational Military School teachers and students.
Together with the military chaplains, Protopresbyter-staurophor Dragomir Sando performed the ceremony of cutting the “slava“ bread, in the presence of the Military Grammar School and Secondary Vocational Military School senior officers, teachers and students.
Speaking about the importance of this religious festival and Saint-Savaism, the Head of the Military Grammar School, Captain Miroslav Ćitić said that Saint Sava was, above all, the founder of the Serbian church, state and education, emphasizing that his deeds were timeless.
- Dear students, I call upon you today to make sure that all your actions are in the spirit of Saint Sava, to be better each day, to help each other selflessly, to protect each other, to get along with each other, to keep the spirit of togetherness and harmony and be guided by it – Captain Ćitić emphasized.
After the ceremony of cutting the “slava“ bread, the traditional St. Sava performance was held starting with singing the Hymn to Saint Sava, followed by an appropriate programme prepared and performed by the Military Grammar School and Secondary Vocational Military School students.
