Minister Stefanović visits temporary Covid hospital in the Arena
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, visited the temporary Covid hospital in the Štark Arena in Belgrade today, and talked to the military medical staff who have been engaged for months in this extremely important task for Serbia and its citizens.
He expressed his gratitude to the people who work in the Arena and who “show how perfect the cooperation between the civilian and military health care is, how much they love this country, how much they love helping people and how honourably they do their job“.
- It is our job to do whatever we can to help them. I want to say a big thank you to the doctors, nurses, technicians, but also to all the people who work here day and night so that about 500 people accommodated in the New Belgrade’s Arena can have the best possible treatment. This is now the largest Covid hospital in our country, where about 500 patients receive meals, necessary medical care and oxygen therapy every day and where they are given full medical attention – emphasized Minister Stefanović.
He thanked all those who decided to work, risking their health and the health of their families.
- I am glad to see that the doctors are optimistic, because they can see that together, closely united, we can beat Covid and that by adhering to the preventative measures, our citizens make sure that as few people as possible come to the Arena and other Covid hospitals, which is a great support to our doctors. Let's win together and then gradually return to normal life. It may not happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but if we are persistent, it can happen relatively fast - said the Minister of Defence and appealed to all citizens to follow the measures, to show gratitude to great people working in our health system so that we can beat Covid together.
The commander of the Covid hospital in the Arena, Colonel Radivoje Anđelković, introduced Minister Stefanović to the way this hospital works, and together they visited the hospital’s command post and the medical staff’s rest and work space.
-I am glad that I’ve had the opportunity to see the whole team, and together with Colonel Anđelković and the team he leads I saw that the cooperation is good and effective, that the system functions flawlessly, that the people who come here are well taken care of and have good impressions, because military discipline and good organisation give good results - concluded Minister Stefanović.
The temporary Covid hospital in the Arena was also visited today by the Head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Miroslav Vukosavljević, MD and medical coordinators of the temporary Covid hospital, Colonel Predrag Bogdanović, MD, and Dr Vlado Batnožić.
