Minister Stefanović meets with Ambassador of Spain Molina
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom o Spain Raúl Bartolomé Molina today.
Minister Stefanović thanked the Ambassador for Spain’s principled position on the issue of non-recognition of the so-called Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence, which indicates Spain’s consistency in respecting the sovereignty of other states. He emphasized that the Republic of Serbia strongly supports the Kingdom of Spain’s territorial integrity and pointed out the sincere friendship of our states and people.
The Minister of Defence stressed the importance of joint participation in multinational operations, especially our joint engagement in UNIFIL.
Ambassador Molina congratulated Minister Stefanović on his appointment as the Minister of Defence and wished him success in his future endeavours. He expressed Spain’s opinion that the so-called Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence is against international law and that they support the engagement of UNMIK and KFOR in stabilizing the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, as part of the Repubic of Serbia.
The Ambassador emphasized Spain’s interest in further development of the military-military cooperation through joint participation in multinational operations and cooperation in the field of CBRN, as well as the establishment of military-technical cooperation in the areas of mutual interest. He commended the professionalism of members of the Serbian Armed Forces engaged as part of the Spanish contingent in UNIFIL’s Sector East.
