Minister Stefanović meets with Italian Ambassador Lo Cascio
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy Carlo Lo Cascio, today.
Minister Stefanović stressed the importance of joint participation in multinational operations, especially joint engagement in the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (INTERIM), and pointed out that in the coming period, there is room for intensified military-economic cooperation in the interest of both parties. The Minister thanked the Ambassador for yearslong participation of the Italian Armed Forces’ members in the KFOR mission in Kosovo, particularly for their engagement in the protection of Serbian population and monasteries in Kosovo and Metohija. Ambassador Lo Cascio congratulated Minister Stefanović on his appointment as Minister of Defence, handed him the letter of congratulations from the Italian Minister of Defence Lorenzo Guerini, and wished him success in his future endeavours. He pointed out that the Italian side is interested in further promotion of cooperation through joint military exercises, joint participation in multinational operations and cooperation in the field of military education. He commended exceptional professionalism of the Serbian Armed Forces’ members working with UNIFIL’s Italian Contingent in Sector West and suggested ensuring greater cooperation in the field of multinational operations.
