Gun salute to mark First World War Armistice Day

In commemoration of the First World War Armistice Day and by order of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, the Serbian Armed Forces’ Guard fired an honorary 10-volley gun salute today from six artillery pieces from the Kalemegdan’s Sava Terrace.
The honorary gun salute on the eve of the Armistice Day was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović and Commander of the Guard, Major General Milomir Todorović.

The Guard’s representative orchestra performed the anthem “Bože pravde“ (God of Justice) as the national flag was raised.
The First World War Armistice Day has been celebrated as a national holiday in Serbia since 2012, in memory of 11 November 1918, when the Entente Powers signed a ceasefire with Germany, thus ending the First World War.
