The French Military Cemetery in Zaječar is the second largest French military memorial in Serbia after the French Military Cemetery in Belgrade.
The Monument to the Timok soldiers who died in the First World War in Zaječar is dedicated to the fighters who lost their lives in the final military operations for the liberation of the country in 1918, when members of the Serbian Army, together with their French allies, waged fierce fights against Austro-Hungarian, German and Bulgarian troops.
