Joint session of the Boards of the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the General Staff
At today’s joint session of the Boards of the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the General Staff held at the Guard Club in Topčider, it was concluded that the clearly shown shared commitment of the state leadership headed by the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, to continuing the process of strengthening the Serbian Armed Forces in order to further enhance the defence capabilities of Serbia and contribute to regional stability and world peace are the main tasks of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the coming period.
At the session, the Chief of the General Staff, general Milan Mojsilović, presented Minister Vulin with a bayonet, as a sign of gratitude for everything he did for the development and strengthening of the Serbian Armed Forces in the past period.
During the session led by the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, key activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the past three-year period were discussed and an analysis of the achieved level of defence development and operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces was presented.
It was especially highlighted that, in this period, the Serbian Armed Forces have significantly enhanced their capabilities by equipping themselves with new materiel, upgrading the existing domestically produced materiel, improving training and raising the financial status and the standard of living of all their members.
It was assessed that Serbia’s neutrality ensures a successful development of partnerships with other militaries in accordance with the national and defence interests of Serbia, which will be a firm commitment in the future as well.
It was emphasized that a high level of operational capabilities has directly influenced the readiness of the Serbian Armed Forces to fully perform all assigned tasks during the state of emergency, observing and implementing all protective measures against the Covid-19 disease.
The live fire tactical exercise “Joint Action 2020” at the provisional training ground “Pešter” successfully showed a high level of readiness and training of the Serbian Armed Forces’ units and joint action of arms of service in carrying out the joint forces’ operation. A large number of modernized assets and assets developed by the defence industry have participated jointly in such an exercise for the first time.
It was concluded at today’s session that the most important result of the previous three-year period is equipping, modernization and strengthening of operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces, raising the standard of their members and the preservation of peace and security of all citizens of the Republic of Serbia.
