Military Police in a demanding training

The Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, visited today members of the deployable platoon of the Fifth Battalion of the Military Police, who are carrying out intensive collective training at the “Borovac” training ground and the “South” Base with the aim of reaching the required level of operational capabilities for participation in multinational operations.

- Every member of the Serbian Armed Forces has the opportunity to advance, improve, and acquire new knowledge and skills. The training conducted by the deployable platoon of the Fifth Battalion of the Military Police is training that can help them in some future peacekeeping operations, but it is also training that helps them in everyday life and everything that can take place in our country – said Minister Vulin after the visit.

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces are able to fulfil every task, carry out every order and they always take care of the safety of the citizens of Serbia, emphasizes Minister Vulin and adds that “all those who tie their destiny, future and life to the Serbian Armed Forces should know that they will be given the opportunity to advance, to train, to participate in peacekeeping missions, but above all to work on themselves, to change their position for the better and only through hard work and merits reach the highest ranks and the most important duties in the Serbian Armed Forces

The Deputy Commander of the Fifth Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Ljubomir Punić, said that this is the training in which defined tactics, techniques and procedures are applied intended for achieving interoperability between forces from different countries and ensuring successful execution of tasks in multinational operations. The deployable platoon of the Fifth Battalion of the Military Police was formed on 28 February this year, and after a period of intensive and individual training, collective training started in the “South” Base, that will last until 28 August, explains Lieutenant Colonel Punić.

- Collective training in the “South” Base started on 3 August. You could see segments of the training related to carrying out patrols, namely, the activity of the MP platoon during a blockade or the terrain search. These tasks are specific because they have to be interoperable with the procedures applied in partner countries, primarily NATO countries. The main goal of the training is to learn the procedures and bring the unit to the level of interoperability for possible participation in multinational operations – explains Lieutenant Colonel Punić.

One of the members of the deployable platoon of the Fifth Battalion, Sergeant 1st Class Dalibor Gojković, points out that the collective training on the “Borovac” training ground is more intensive than usual, but that the implementation of the new training content is going well.

- People came here prepared. We went through a period of individual training and that was great. So it is now much easier for us to cover the segments of collective training. During the training, we practiced things like coming across unexploded ordnance while carrying out foot and motorized patrols, all procedures related to coming across a mine during a patrol, including extracting the wounded or the patrol, providing support, sending reports - emphasizes Sergeant First Class Gojkovic and adds that a part of the procedures is conducted in English.

The deployable platoon of the Military Police was also visited by the Deputy Army Commander, Brigadier General Vladeta Baltić and the Commander of the Fifth Battalion of the Military Police, Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Petrić.
