Ceremony at the Embassy of the Russian Federation on the occasion of Russia Day

On the occasion of Russia Day, a ceremony was held today at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Belgrade, attended by the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin and the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović.
Welcoming the guests, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Belgrade, Aleksandar Botsan-Kharchenko, expressed deep gratitude for the attendance of the highest state leadership of the Republic of Serbia and pointed out that this speaks best of the relations between the two countries.

Referring to the difficult period that the world is going through due to the coronavirus, he pointed out that the recovery after the pandemic will be very long and difficult for all countries.

- I am glad that our relations have withstood that great challenge and that we were side by side during the pandemic, as we have been for centuries. I also mean the support that Russia provided to Serbia, for which we are very glad, because we had the opportunity to contribute to the successful response of Serbia to the coronavirus - said Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko and added that he was very pleased that cooperation during the pandemic was not interrupted and that none of the joint projects were stopped.

- One of those projects is the railway development project. I was lucky to visit the construction site with President Vučić, amidst the crisis, and to make sure that a significant step forward has been made on this project - said the Russian Ambassador, adding that joint projects in the field of energy have continued and that he hopes that the development and joint projects will continue at an accelerated pace after the crisis.
The Russian Ambassador said that the cooperation between Russia and Serbia in the commemorative field is also important.   - We are and we have always been on the right side of history and now we have a common goal, to stop the revision of history and the attempts to take away our historical memory - said the Ambassador of the Russian Federation and announced the continuation of marking the 75th anniversary of Victory Day.

He added that Russia has never considered Serbia's European path an obstacle to establishing relations between the two countries.

- It will never be an obstacle or hindrance for our relations, because we believe that we all need more partners. Kosovo is our common sore point and a very difficult issue, and we are solving it together. Russia will always support Serbia, and the only acceptable solution for us will be the one that is acceptable for Belgrade. We are firmly determined concerning this issue, like many times before, and it will never change - confirmed the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Belgrade, Aleksandar Botsan-Kharchenko, at today's ceremony on the occasion of Russia Day.
