A donation of the Chinese medical team members to the Military Healthcare Department
Members of the medical team from the People's Republic of China who are engaged in providing assistance in suppressing and extinguishing the Covid-19 epidemic on the territory of the Republic of Serbia donated today a medical device for enhanced mucus removal from the airways to the Military Healthcare Department of the Ministry of Defence.
The Head of the Military Healthcare Department, Major General Uglješa Jovičić, thanked the Chinese medical team on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and military healthcare for the donation. He pointed out that the medical team came from China at the beginning of March and that they helped by giving advice, lectures and donations all the time.
- We were together at the Military Medical Academy. They gave us lectures on how to use protective equipment, how to treat people, how to divide military hospitals into zones. They helped us all the time, not only with advice and lectures, i.e. not only in a professional sense, but also in a material sense. They donated protective equipment and everything we needed to protect ourselves, and today they have donated a device which makes coughing out mucus easier. The important thing is that this friendship is permanent, that we will expand and deepen it and that we know that we have friends in distant China who we can invite at any moment and turn to them for help and advice - said General Jovičić.
A member of the Chinese medical team, Dr. Peng Zhiqiang, pointed out that the device was researched and manufactured by a company from Guangdong and that it was used in hospitals in Wuhan - the city that was the biggest hotbed of the Covid-19 epidemic and that it was also used in military hospitals where patients with the most severe clinical presentation were treated.
- The device uses a vibration model and in that way mobilizes secretions, dilutes them and thus removes them more easily. In that way, Covid-19 patients clear their airways and can breathe more easily. Considering the fact that very good results were achieved with this device in China, we decided to donate one and see what the results will be. We hope that it will give good results in Serbia as well and help the seriously ill patients recover faster - said Dr. Peng Zhiqiang.
The Head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Miroslav Vukosavljević, points out that this military healthcare institution has not had such a device so far.
- This device will be extremely useful for all the patients who have problems, not only with Covid infection, but also with other lung diseases, and it will also be useful in intensive care unit - said Colonel Vukosavljević and thanked our "steel friends" from the People's Republic of China.
