Minister Vulin: The March generation of soldiers showed a huge potential of our armed forces

Today, the Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, visited the "March 2020" generation of soldiers who are doing voluntary military service in the "Airport" barracks in Sombor, where he attended a part of the infantry weapons fire practice.

According to Minister Vulin, in addition to showing exceptional results when it comes to training, the March generation of soldiers also showed a huge potential of our armed forces, but most importantly - they showed what kind of people they are.

- During the Covid-19 epidemic, no soldier of the March class gave up or left the armed forces and they were engaged all the time where it was most difficult and most necessary.

No soldiers of the March class got infected. All of them are healthy, to the joy of their parents and to the pride of their armed forces, and most of them have decided to continue their professional career in the armed forces - said Minister Vulin.

Due to the demonstrated quality and commitment, the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, awarded the March generation of soldiers with early promotions to their first ranks, Minister Vulin says and adds that the majority of soldiers of that generation will remain in the armed forces “of which we are proud, because there is no better news than to hear that a young man wants to stay here.“

During today's visit, the Minister was briefed about the situation in the unit and on the territory of the Sombor garrison by the Commander of the Training Command’s First Training Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Radovan Miladinović. He also briefed the Minister about the measures taken in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 disease, as well as the main tasks for the coming period.
Colonel Miladinović points out that the soldiers of the March generation have reached an excellent level of infantry weapons training, primarily because of the proper handling of weapons, and because of the results of the range firing.

- We are located on the firing range of the "Airport" barracks, where the "March 2020" generation of soldiers who are doing military service are carrying out familiarization fire from a hand-held rocket launcher. This is also the crown of the training, considering the fact that after this, they will have another physical fitness test and the so-called individual training evaluation, after which they will be sent to units of the Serbian Armed Forces for the second period of military service - said Lieutenant Colonel Miladinović.

The motives for which Lance Corporal Aneta Manojlović from Pančevo applied for voluntary military service are love of the homeland and the continuation of the family tradition.

- Our commanding officers did not only teach us the military stuff. They taught us how to strengthen, to grow and develop as people and to work as a team - says Lance Corporal Manojlović and adds that she hopes that after completing her voluntary military service, her dream of getting a job in the Military Police Unit of the Serbian Armed Forces, will come true.

Corporal Nedeljko Knežević from Novi Sad points out that for him, voluntary military service was a challenge both physically and mentally.

- I graduated from a Nautical School and I am planning to get a job in the River Flotilla, in Novi Sad. The impressions from the training are fantastic. The commanding officers are nice. We have made friends here for the rest of our lives - said Corporal Knežević.

He also pointed out that the March generation of soldiers is special because of their experience of doing military service during the state of emergency, and that thanks to good safety measures, conscientious commanding officers and soldier discipline, excellent results were achieved and no soldiers were infected with Covid-19.

Today, the State Secretary Bojan Jocić, the Chief of Staff of the Training Command, Colonel Nikola Dejanović, and the Head of the Department for Infrastructure, Colonel Radmilo Kravić, also visited the soldiers who are doing military service.
