Minister Vulin: The military health care has shown its worth in these difficult times
The Military Medical Academy and the military health care have shown their worth and will continue fighting until the end of the battle against Covid-19, the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin said after a visit to the Military Medical Academy today, where he met with the management of that military health care institution, that briefed him about the operation of the MMA during the state of emergency.
- Military health care has shown how important it is to its country and its military. It has shown that in these most difficult times there can be no division except into those who fight and who give their best and those who think differently - Minister Vulin emphasized.
In the most difficult moments for our country, during the fight against Covid-19, the Military Medical Academy took over the treatment of patients who are not infected with Covid-19, in accordance with the order of the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and the National Crisis Response Team, says Minister Vulin, noting that due to the current fight against the coronavirus we must not stop taking care of patients suffering from other diseases.- More than 11,000 patients have been triaged here. About 6,000 patients have been admitted for further treatment. More than 500 patients are currently hospitalized. Every day more than 200 patients undergo dialysis in three shifts. More than 300 emergency surgeries have been performed at the MMA - Minister Vulin points out, saying that when all this finishes, we will have to understand that certain things have changed, that we will have to act differently, adopt some new procedures, learn and work and be ready for whatever awaits us.
According to the Head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Miroslav Vukosavljević, MD, the Military Medical Academy was among the first in Serbia to create a reception and triage department.
- I can proudly say that we were among the first hospitals to create a reception and triage department in front of the Military Medical Academy, which is unique in that it has both a surgical and inpatient-diagnostic unit, as well as a triage centre with rapid test diagnostics - said Colonel Vukosavljević, announcing that the MMA will soon acquire PCR tests, which will make it fully equipped for the diagnosis of all conditions and differential diagnosis of Covid and non-Covid patients.The Head of the MMA points out that so far there have been a total of nine doctors and nurses infected with Covid-19 with mild symptoms of the disease, as well as two doctors and one nurse who have already recovered and are returning to the frontline.
State Secretary Bojan Jocić, the Head of the Military Healthcare Department, Brigadier General Uglješa Jovičić, MD, and the Head of the MMA’s Crisis Response Team and Deputy Head of the MMA, Brigadier General Dragan Dinčić, MD, also visited the MMA today.
