Minister Vulin: The front line with the members of the Serbian Armed Forces did not fall

Today, on Easter, the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, accompanied by the Head of the Military Healthcare Department, Brigadier General Uglješa Jovičić, MD, visited doctors and medical staff of the “Karaburma” Military Medical Centre and members of the Serbian Armed Forces engaged in medical and non-medical tasks at the temporary hospital at the Belgrade Fair, and wished them a happy Easter, the great Christian holiday.

- I have come to convey sincere gratitude of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, to all these people. Whether they are soldiers or doctors, they are all in the same job; they are all on the same mission. We are grateful to them just as we are grateful to anyone who made a contribution, either by staying at home and following the recommendations of the state or by doing what their professions required them to do - said Minister Vulin.

Although the members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence are on the front line, Minister Vulin points out that they are often faced with ungratefulness and lack of understanding, but that they are nonetheless humane, confident and professional.

- On behalf of President Vučić, the entire Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, and on my personal behalf, I want to thank these people. They are fighters, they are heroes, and they are the front line - the line that has not fallen - emphasized Minister Vulin.

The Chief Medical Coordinator of the temporary hospital at the Belgrade Fair, Lieutenant Colonel Veljko Milić, MD, emphasizes that the holiday spirit is felt in the hospital, but that everyone working at the Fair, regardless of the holiday, performs their tasks as they do every day.

- The number of patients at the Fair Hospital is 376. A lot of people were discharged from the hospital yesterday, but new ones were also admitted. Patients are going home and I think this is the best holiday gift for them. The holiday spirit is felt, especially since we got Easter eggs. Each patient got more than one egg - said Lieutenant Colonel Milić, praising the motivation of the employees at the Fair, both from civilian and military structures, and volunteers who came to help.

Lieutenant Colonel Milić thanked Minister Vulin and General Jovičić for visiting them on today's big holiday, because, as he says, the visit is a form of recognition to all the staff working here for all their hard work and all the effort they have made so far.

According to Bojana Jovanović, the Head Nurse at the Military Medical Academy, currently engaged at the Karaburma Military Medical Centre, the team spirit is what motivates her and her colleagues to win the fight against the coronavirus. She points out that since the outbreak of Covid-19, the Military Medical Academy has begun training and giving psychological support to all nurses and medical technicians of that institution.

- There is a great team spirit, which we have always built at the Military Medical Academy. Although about 120 nurses and medical technicians from different MMA organizational units are engaged at the Karaburma Military Medical Centre, we work as a team here. Teamwork and team spirit are leading us to victory, and the biggest relief is when we hear that a patient is being discharged to their home - said Ms Jovanović, noting that she is very happy and, like her colleagues, honoured with Minister Vulin’s visit to the “Karaburma” MMC on Easter.
