Armoured Units carry out successful firing practice

Members of the Second Army Brigade have successfully carried out armoured units' firing practice today at “Orešac“ training ground near Vršac.

Major Boban Ilić, Commander of the 28th Mechanized Battalion, explains that from January to March, the focus of training was on the preparation for firing practice and the training of men.

- We are now carrying out preparation fire and practice fire at the “Orešac“ military complex which is, at the same time, preparation for live fire and tactical exercises. A particularly demanding exercise this year is “Interoperability 2020” at the “Pešter“ traning ground – points out Major Ilić.

Althogh the weather was far from ideal for today's firing practice at the “Orešac” training ground near Vršac, a gunner on the infantry combat vehicle BVP M-80A in the mechanized company of the 27th Mechanized Battalion, Corporal Vladimir Panić says that the army must carry out all tasks, regardless of the weather.

- Being a gunner on the BVP is an interesting job. I emphasize that we have excellent armament, and the members of the mechanized battalions are well prepared for these firing practices so the results will be positive – says Corporal Panić and explains that the crew of BVP consists of a commander, a gunner and a driver, while there can be an additional section consisting of seven infantry troops.

One of the members of the 28th Mechanized Battalion is Corporal Goran Lukić, also a gunner on the infantry combat vehicle BVP M-80A.
- The results of today’s firing practice are either very good or excellent – said Corporal Lukić, pointing out that each training is an opportunity to improve the existing skills and acquire new knowledge.

The Chief of Staff of the Army Command, Brigadier General Vladeta Baltić and the Commander of the Second Army Brigade, General Željko Kuzmanović  who visited the members of the Second Army Brigade’s mechanized battalion saw that firing from armoured unit’s weapons went according to plan.
