Minister Vulin: We are speedily modernising our armed forces
Today, Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, together with Air Force and Air Defence Commander Major General Duško Žarković, visited the 230th Air Defence Self-Propelled Missile Battalion in the barracks “Mija Stanimirović” in Niš.
Following the report given by Deputy Commander of the 230th Air Defence Self-Propelled Missile Battalion Major Miodrag Milojević, a demonstration was conducted of the combat activities of the air defence self-propelled missile battalion, in the framework of which the unit executed emplacement by an air defence self-propelled missile battery and demonstrated the work at a command post of the battalion.
Minister Vulin underlined that the Air Force and Air Defence of the Serbian Armed Forces fully controlled our sky and that they were ready to respond to every threat and protect our air space.
- The Serbian Armed Forces intensively work on not only the overhaul, but on modernisation as well of what we have. Everything that we possess has to be serviceable, it has to be technically operative and it has to be capable of being employed and engaged. Processes of modernisation in our armed forces will not end, and they will continue to be implemented and this year, they will be significantly accelerated – Minister Vulin stressed.
According to him, all elements of the Serbian Armed Forces are functioning, and all people are giving their best so that the materiel, no matter how old, is serviceable and working successfully.
- It is up to us to speed up the modernisation, and show, in very short, and as fast as possible period, that the assets that we possess can respond to all the challenges – Minister Vulin stated.
As Commander of the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade Brigadier General Tiosav Janković said the units of that Brigade execute their daily training tasks and tasks of maintaining the assets and materiel.
- Today, we attended a demonstration of a part of combat capabilities, or operational capabilities of the 230th Air Defence Self-Propelled Missile Battalion. Poor weather conditions do not prevent people from executing their tasks, and the assets work as envisaged, so all together both the 250th Missile Brigade and the 230th Battalion are ready to execute their assigned tasks 24 hours of every day, over the entire year – General Janković underscored.
Commander of Air Defence Self-Propelled Missile Battery Captain Miloš Ranđelović stressed that on that day they demonstrated emplacement by the self-propelled missile battery on the move.
- A self-propelled missile battery is characterised by a high level of operational capabilities, which applies to all the units of the Brigade. A high level of competence is achieved through incessant training, which is a continuous process in our units, like it has been showed today, and the training is carried out in all weather conditions – Captain Ranđelović underscored adding that the realisation of such complex tasks in all conditions was possible only through impeccable competence of the system’s operators, which is the level that cannot be lowered in the units of the 250th Brigade.
