Minister Vulin: The Armed Forces are one with the people and the guardian of the highest values




Sports in the Serbian Armed Forces are not only about acquiring physical fitness, but a way to show the moral values ​​that members of the Armed Forces have adopted, said Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin, who attended a demonstration of mixed martial arts today, performed for the members of the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Special Police Military Battalion for special purposes “Kobre” (“Cobras”), in the barracks “Rastko Nemanjić” in Pančevo.

“The Serbian Armed Forces are not a detached and isolated institution, a set of mercenaries who can be ordered anything and sent anywhere,” Minister Vulin emphasized, adding that “it is not about technology or weapons, but the values ​​its existence is based upon. It is the duty of all members of the Serbian Armed Forces to safeguard the highest values ​​of our people and our country, the values ​​that have rendered our people worth imitating, the values ​​that have rendered our people great,” said Minister Vulin.

“All members of the Serbian Armed Forces have an opportunity to train sports. Material incentives are also provided for those who achieve the best results, and it is ensured that each of them is promoted in every sense, both physically and mentally. Being a member of the Serbian Armed Forces means being ready to fulfill every task and to respond to every challenge,” Minister Vulin pointed out.  
 
According to Goran Živković, a professor of physical education in the Special Brigade, participants in today’s demonstration of mixed martial arts were the teams of the MMA Federation of Serbia, the “Krav Maga Global Serbia” club, the Karate Alliance of Serbia with the kata team, the World Center of Real Aikido and members of the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces.

“The purpose of the presentation was to show that we can implement all kinds of martial arts with the members of the Special Brigade. Fighting in the Special Brigade, as well as in the Serbian Armed Forces, is an exercise tool that develops confidence, perseverance, courage, and most importantly, it is an adequate and timely response in all situations, which is one of the preconditions for a quality officer, NCO and soldier.” emphasized Živković.

Special Brigade member, Lieutenant Milan Trajković points out that he has been able to develop his interest and practice martial arts since the Military High School.
“I want to express my pleasure and say it is a privilege to be a part of this martial arts team. As a Military Academy student and as a student in the Military High School, I had the opportunity to train at reputable clubs and now, at work, I can implement this martial arts set,” says Lieutenant Trajković.

Among the participants in today’s martial arts demonstration was Irena Blagajac of the Real Aikido Club “Atom”. She says she has been practicing real aikido for 15 years and would recommend this sport to everyone in order for them to acquire the work habits, responsibilities, concentration and develop teamwork.

The demonstration of martial arts was also attended by Rector of the University of Defense, Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović, Commander of the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan, Chief of the Military Police Department, Brigadier General Rajko Milovanović and Chief of the Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to CISM, Brigadier General Sinisa Radović.
