Minister Vulin: Serbia and Norway will continue the cooperation in the field of military medicine




“Serbia will continue pursuing the policy of military neutrality and we do not wish to become member of any military alliance, but we certainly will and can preserve our independence, our sovereignty and guarantee peace in the entire Balkans through our strengthening. The stronger the Serbia is, the more stable, the Balkans will be more peaceful and stable. It is in the interest of not only countries of the region but of the entire Europe as well” – stated Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin after his meeting with his Norwegian colleague Frank Bakke-Jensen, upon whose invitation he stays in official visit to Oslo.
 
Minister Vulin availed himself of the opportunity “to inform the esteemed minister about the position of our Government and our people regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, regarding the situation in the entire region, with particular emphasis on Bosnia and Herzegovina and our position that every letter of the Dayton Treaty has to be preserved”.
 
Thanking Norwegian Government for the continuous assistance in developing the cooperation between the two ministries, the Serbian minister of defence underlined that the cooperation was primarily carried out in the field of military medicine and that it would be continued in the future as well.

“There are many things that we can learn from our Norwegian partners, but similarly, there are many things that our Norwegian partners can learn from us when it comes to military medicine. We are very grateful for the continued support which is rendered to the Balkan Medical Task Force and of course for the great help which they provided when we established our Role 2 field hospital for UN requirements in peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic. We believe that our cooperation will be even more fruitful, that we will continue cooperating, because in the first place, the experiences which we can share with each other are something that makes the difference” - Minister Vulin stated.
 
Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway Frank Bakke Jensen highlighted that it was a very important visit and that Serbia was a country with which Norway had a significant cooperation in the areas of military education and development of defence system.
 
“Serbia has made considerable efforts when it comes to the Balkan Medical Task Force and it is very important for us to maintain contact with that country, to exchange positions about the situation in Europe and world, just like we had very sincere talks today” - Norwegian minister of defence stated.
 
The minister of defence of the Republic of Serbia was welcomed in Oslo with the highest state and military honours.
