Minister Vulin: We will do everything to improve the quality of life for the members of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces
Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin opened Workers’ Sports Games organized by the Union of Syndicates of Serbia in Vrnjacka Banja today.
On this occasion, Minister Vulin recalled a number of measures that the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Defense are taking to improve the status of all those working for the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces.
He pointed out that when talking to Syndicate members, an awareness must be present that they are the people who are prepared to fight for what they believe in and that he greatly respects their beliefs and struggle, and above all respects that they are the people who love their own country, who wish to continue to live in it and who will, together with the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Defense, do everything to make Serbia an even better place to live.
The Union of Syndicates of Serbia includes syndicates from the area of communal services, health care, road and rail transport, trade and tourism, social welfare institutions, Serbian Armed Forces, military industry.
Among the 260 participants of the sports games competing in 12 sports disciplines and divided into men’s and women’s competitions, are members of the Syndicate of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces employees and Syndicate “Zastava oružje Kragujevac”.
The president of the Union of Employees of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, Dejan Pavlović, stressed that this is the youngest union in the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces and that the Serbian Armed Forces are participating in Workers’ Sports Games for the first time. As he says, such events best confirm the mutual trust of the Armed Forces and the people, because the Armed Forces has always been here for the people.
- I would like to thank the Ministry of Defense, which came out in support of our request to allow members of the military to attend sports games of this kind. Sports games serve to bring the military closer to other syndicates existing in the country. There are 20 syndicate organizations competing in different disciplines such as football, basketball, darts, stew cooking, table tennis – Pavlović said, adding that the military call is specific and often risky and therefore soldiers are treated differently than others employees.
Pavlović also stressed that the goal of the Syndicate he represents is to be a link between the employees of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense, as an employer, and to improve the material status of employees through constructive dialogue with the employer, since, as he emphasizes, only a satisfied soldier is a good soldier.
The Third Workers’ Sports Games organized by the Union of Syndicates of Serbia, held at the “Banbus” Hotel in Vrnjacka Banja, will last until 12 October.
