Notable success of military athletes at the Championship of Serbia in Long Distance Triathlon
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Petar Cvetković, have spoken today with members of the national team of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces who achieved notable success at the recently held National Championship of Serbia in Long Distance Triathlon at Ada Ciganlija.
Minister Vulin and General Cvetković congratulated on the remarkable success of military athletes, noting that the importance of their results was even greater given that they competed side by side with professional athletes.
Master Sergeant Vuković, who achieved the best result in the “Military and Police” category, emphasised that triathlon is a very demanding sport that involves swimming, cycling and running.
- These three sports have their own specificities when it comes to coaching, and these are also the long distances we have to prepare for. At this championship, we achieved good results and it was also a check before going to the world military games that await us in China – Master Sergeant Vuković said, adding that he was very pleased with his result and that of his colleagues.
- This was a very good preparation and training for going to the World Military Games in China – Captain Ivković emphasises, assessing that the time he achieved was within the range expected.
At today's meeting, members of the “Cobras” battalion presented Minister Vulin with the statue they won at the National Championship in Long Distance Triathlon, as a token of gratitude for support to the “Cobras” triathlon team.
