President Vučić visits reconstructed Military Boarding High School
President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, accompanied by Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, has visited today the reconstructed student rooms and common rooms of the Military Boarding High School.
After the visit, speaking about the significance of the project, President Vučić pointed out, quoting General Mojsilović, that “these facilities as well show how much the Armed Forces and the country are moving forward”.
- There still remain the works in the gym, to see what we will do with the external football pitch and the track-and-field court, the roof will be restored as soon as the weather conditions allow it, and it seems to me that everything else is finished and arranged in a decent and good way. The calorific value of food has been improved, and I believe that the quality will continue to improve in the future even though the children are satisfied – President Vučić said.
According to him, it is important that there is no longer the trend of leaving the military, because a lot of resources are being invested in education and training of military personnel.
- You invest huge money starting from secondary school and military high school, through the Military Academy, then through fieldwork, and then people go anywhere to any service because they do not see the promising future in the Armed Forces. Today, it is evident that the state increasingly takes care of the Armed Forces, so that cheap apartments will be ready in Vranje and Niš before the end of the year already, and soon there will be more of them in our biggest cities: Belgrade, Novi Sad and Sremska Mitrovica, and I think it will be a clear signal for the people that the state is trying in any way to correct not only their standard of living, but also to show respect for our soldiers and those who always have to be ready to defend, protect and preserve our country – President Vučić said.
He also emphasised that he was proud of the soldiers, who were ready yesterday when, colloquially speaking, combat readiness was raised.
- Unlike some earlier periods, we did not have any jumps out, any departures, complaining, and making tragic scenes. People behaved responsibly, seriously, full of patriotism, I thank them for that, and we will continue to improve also the level of equipping and training, as well as the arms of our soldiers, and that will be one of the key priorities in the forthcoming period – President Vučić concluded, extending once again congratulations to members of our Armed Forces for their professional and extremely patriotic attitude towards the country they guard and protect.
Bojan Jocić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Major General Bojan Zrnić, Commandant of the Military Academy, and Colonel Miroslav Gvozdenović, Head of the Military High School, with associates, also attended today's tour.
During the works that lasted eight months, all five floors in the building were renovated, and bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and the dining room were fully furnished. The Boarding School, which was built in 1978 and covers more than 10 thousand square meters, has the capacity to accommodate 516 students of the Military High School and Secondary Vocational Military School.
The contractor is the Belgrade Military Construction Establishment, and the investor is Belgrade Military Construction Centre. Until the end of the works on the roof, about RSD 180 million will be invested in reconstruction and refurbishment of the Military Boarding High School.
