Members of the 126th Brigade of Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance paid homage today at the monument in the place Kraljev Sto at the Divčibare Mountain, to Second Lieutenants Željko Savičić and Siniša Radić, who had been killed in the air strikes of NATO aviation in 1999.

The wreaths were laid at the memorial to the killed members of the 126th Brigade of Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance by the members of the Brigade, families and friends, representatives of the towns of Valjevo and Kraljevo, delegations of veterans of SUBNOR and associations oriented towards cherishing the traditions of liberation wars of Serbia.

Commander of the 126th Brigade of Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance Colonel Aleksandar Dučić spoke about the life and work of the killed officers.

- On this day, twenty years ago Second Lieutenants Željko Savičić and Siniša Radić entered the history, and the line of the immortals, the line of all those who laid down the most holy for their fatherland – their lives. By safeguarding and visiting this monument of sadness and pride, we preserve the memory of their actions which will remain forever written on the brightest pages of our history. The lives which they laid down oblige us to preserve the peace and defend the free skies of our fatherland – stated Colonel Dučić.

As part of observing the 20th anniversary of defence against the NATO aggression on the FR Yugoslavia, and upon the initiative led by the members of the 126th Brigade of Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance, the town of Valjevo named one street on the Divčibare Mountain – “The Street of Lieutenants Savičić and Radić”. On the sight of death of the officers, a church was erected dedicated to the Holy Martyr Georgije, who had been a soldier himself.

Second Lieutenants Željko Savičić and Siniša Radić were posthumously decorated by the Medals of Merit in the Area of Defence and Security and promoted to the rank of lieutenants, and in 2015 the Eparchy of Valjevo posthumously awarded them the Order of Saint Bishop Nikolaj.
