Air Solution 2018 exercise kicks off
The International Air Tactical Exercise Air Solution 2018, with participation of members of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence and the Romanian Air Force, has begun today in the airspace of Serbia and Romania. Members of the Ohio National Guard take part in the exercise as observers.
The three-day exercise is realized with the participation of fighter, fighter-bomber and transport aircraft and helicopter units engaged in search and rescue tasks.
It is planned that members of the two air forces train together to carry out tasks of air policing, resolving crisis situations in the airspace in the border zone between the two countries, as well as the tasks of aviation support and search and rescue.
Aircraft handling tasks on the ground are performed by members of the respective units deployed at the airports of the neighbouring country for this occasion.
On the first day of the exercise, the AN-26 and Spartan C-27 transport aircraft were active and transported personnel and materiel necessary for this task.
After the flight of the Orao airplane to Romania, two MiG-21 airplanes of the Romanian Air Force landed at the Batajnica airport, accompanied by Serbian MiG-29s, which concluded the first day of the exercise.
This is the 5th edition of the air tactical exercise of the Serbian and Romanian Air Forces, and the first such exercise was held in 2009.
