Meeting between defence ministers of Serbia and Cabo Verde

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has met today in Belgrade with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Communities and Defence Luis Filipe Tavares.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Vulin thanked Minister Tavares for the principled position of the Republic of Cabo Verde and on the efforts and personal contribution for not recognizing the so-called “Kosovo” as an independent state, despite the numerous pressures to which Cabo Verde has been exposed. As Minister Vulin emphasized, Cabo Verde showed its courage, but also knows how to value freedom, because “the values and desire for freedom join the two geographically distant nations and states”.

The Serbian Minister of Defence proposed to his colleagues from Cabo Verde to sign the Agreement on Defence Cooperation as a legal framework for cooperation between the two armies in the forthcoming period.

Minister Tavares emphasized the strong historical links and excellent political relations between the two countries. He also emphasized that the Republic of Cabo Verde has confirmed that it is a safe and reliable partner to Serbia in the Atlantic, and once again emphasized a principled and clear position regarding the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.

Minister Tavares invited Minister Vulin to pay an official visit to the Republic of Cabo Verde in the forthcoming period.
