Vice-President of the Republic of India lays a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero

Vice President of the Republic of India Venkaiah Naidu has laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mt. Avala, today, accompanied by Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Major General Ilija Todorov, Chief of the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Department (J-2) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff.

With the highest military honours, playing anthems of India and Serbia and the Honour Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Vice-President of the Republic of India wrote in the memorial book “Those who live today remember those who gave their lives on the battlefield for peace and happiness of future generations. Soldiers who have made the highest sacrifice will live forever in our hearts. Together with the people of Serbia we bow to the unknown heroes. May their memory be eternal!”

Vice-President of the Republic of India Naidu is leading the state-economic delegation of that country, which is on a two-day visit to the Republic of Serbia. Yesterday, he talked with the President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, and one of the topics was also cooperation in the field of defence. The visit of the Indian delegation was rated as one of the most important in bilateral relations ever since 1989 when Rajiv Gandhi visited Belgrade.
