Minister Vulin: The Armed Forces again take care of their members
- As early as in September the Serbian Armed Forces will start the construction of the first buildings for the members of security services in Niša and Vranje, with some 27 thousand square metres that are going to be constructed – announced Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin today, who in the presence of Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubiša Diković, presented the keys to 24 flats to active and retired members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.
The minister of defence stated that the future users of the flats should know that it was very good news since the armed forces would build quickly, with good quality, honouring the deadlines, which is the way that only the armed forces can do.
- We are acquiring arms, equipment, but we never forget that the armed forces are primarily made of men, so the care for them and their families is our priority. Today, here we have handed the keys to 24 flats to active and retired members, and as you can see, everybody is taken care of and nobody’s merits and years of service will not go without gratitude and without an award – Minister Vulin stressed.
He underlined that the Serbian Armed Forces established again a system that was previously intentionally and systematically destroyed that stopped taking care of the people.
- We take care of the people again, and we take care of the people from the first day when they become our members, as long as they are here no matter if they are active or retired. All the members of the Serbian Armed Forces should know that this is a system and that it will take care of them – Minister Vulin concluded.
According to General Diković, this is another move within an all-encompassing approach to raising the overall operational capabilities of the armed forces.
- Apart from arms and military equipment, which we are intensively procuring for the requirements of our armed forces both from the foreign market оr that are nationally developed, this is another way to make our people satisfied and to complete that atmosphere so that the men are ready to discharge every task and to resolve their existential issues. That contributes to higher respect for the Serbian Armed Forces in the society – stressed Chief of General Staff adding that when the people are satisfied and well trained the execution of any task is not questioned.
First Sergeant Vladimir Jeremić from Gornji Milanovac was one of those who took with them the keys of their new flats from the Great War Hall of the Old General Staff.
- I have been waiting for the flat for 18 years, and now I have got a two room flat in which I will live with my wife and three children. I am satisfied with the flat which I have got – stressed First Sergeant Jeremić posted in the Signals and IT Training Centre in that town.
The family of a civilian, Jovan Bosić, employed in the Technical Test Centre, has been waiting for the flat for almost three decades.
- We have got a lovely three and half room flat in Bežanijska Kosa, and we have already seen it – Bosić underlined and added that his wife Dragana was the one rejoicing the most in their five member family and that she was in charge of the organisation of the household.
Sergeant Major (retired) Dimitrije Stefanović worked in Bjelovar and he said that today’s key handing ceremony and the new flat relieved his family of a burden of waiting for that matter to be resolved.
- We have got a flat in Mirjevo and we have been waiting for that for 26 years. We are satisfied with the flat where we will finally be able to live a bit quitter – Stefanović highlighted.
