Exhibition “Dijana’s Children” Opened in Niš
Last night, in the Military Club in Niš, the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović opened the exhibition “Dijana’s Children” by the author Slađana Zarić.
The exhibition was organised by the Radio Television of Serbia and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence, and it is dedicated to the action of rescuing Serbian children from Croatian fascist concentration camp Jasenovac during the Second World War. Owing to the noble Dijana Budisavljević, nearly eight thousands of Serbian little ones were saved.
Opening the exhibition, General Simović pointed out that Dijana Budisavljevićwas a woman of great heart, and that in 1945 the authorities had done her great injustice, since they had taken from her the records on the saved children and kept her away from the public scene.
The exhibition is based on archival photographs, exhibits and scenery elements which depict the tragedy of suffering and the saga of rescuing the children from Kozara. The author of the architectonic section of the exhibition is Ivan Mangov.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Mayor of the town of Niš, Darko Bulatović, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, members of the Army, retired servicemen, representatives of the associations of liberation wars and numerous citizens of Niš.
The exhibition in the Military Club in Niš is opened from 9.00 to 19.00 hours on the work days until 27th July 2018.
