Continuation of cooperation with Romania
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin, who, on the invitation of his Romanian counterpart, is on an official visit to Bucharest, met today with Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila.
Minister Vulin conveyed to the Romanian Prime Minister greetings of the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and the satisfaction with the good regional and bilateral cooperation of the two countries, and the Romanian Prime Minister expressed great respect for the policy run by President Vučić
Minister Vulin and Prime Minister Dancila agreed that Serbia and Romania are a guarantor of peace and stability in this area
“She underlined that without a secure and stable Serbia there can be no safe and stable Balkans. Without a secure and stable Balkans, Europe would not be on the road to development and on the road to progress”, Minister Vulin said after the meeting, adding that: “We confirmed once again the principled position of Romania when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija and their strong support for international law and Resolution 1244 and, of course, talks as the only model that has the support of both Romania and Serbia when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija.”
An important topic of the talks between the Serbian minister and the Romanian Prime Minister was the development of economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as support to the process of Serbia's EU integration.
“Romania is a very important economic partner of Serbia and it will continue to be that also in the future. The Romanian Prime Minister once again underlined that Romania strongly supports Serbia when it comes to the EU integration process and that the focus of their presidency, which Romania is to take over next year, will be exactly on the Western Balkan countries aspiring to become EU members, and Serbia certainly occupies an important and prominent place there. Wherever Romania has a voice, it is as if Serbia has a voice as well. Wherever Romania has the space to talk about what worries Serbia, what Serbs consider unfair, what Serbia thinks that should be done differently and better, Romania expresses its readiness to be our protector both in the EU and in all other organisations to which it is a member, and Serbia is not”, Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin said after the meeting with the Romanian Prime Minister.
