Minister Vulin at the promotion of the book "Serbs, American War Heroes"

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has attended today the promotion of the book "Serbs, American War Heroes" by Dušan Babac, published by Odbrana Media Centre at the International Book Fair.

On that occasion, historian Mile Bjelajac, Dragana Marković, editor of the publications in Odbrana MC, as well as the author himself, spoke about the book.

The reviewer of this work, historian Mile Bjelajac, pointing to the historical significance of Babac's book for the world military history, emphasized that it also provided a kind of review on migration of people from these areas to the United States. He pointed out that many Americans of Serbian origin had prominent careers in the army, specially singling out the example of Colonel Nikola Stepanović, who had a great career as a lawyer and as a military commander, and whom President Dwight Eisenhower appointed as a member of the US diplomatic team in the United Nations.

Speaking about the idea for the creation of the book, author Dušan Babac pointed out that he wished that numerous warriors, fates and decorations of officers and soldiers of Serbian origin of who were declared war heroes did not fall into oblivion, both in our country and worldwide, so, therefore, the book was printed bilingual - in Serbian and English.

During today's visit to the Book Fair, Minister Vulin attended also the promotion of the book "Forgotten Admiral - Ser Ernest Trubridge, excerpts from the diary 1915-1919", by editor Danilo Šarenc, co-published by the Ministry of Defence, Radio Television of Serbia and the UK Embassy.
