Enhancement of defence cooperation with Kazakhstan

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin have met in Astana today with Kazakhstan's Minister of Defence Saken Zhasuzakov and Secretary of the National Security Council of Kazakhstan Vladimir Zhumakanov with whom he discussed enhancing the cooperation of the two countries in the field of defence.

Vulin and Zhasuzakov agreed that the general and political relations of the two countries are friendly and without open issues, initiated by successful visits at the presidential level, so Minister Vulin expressed his conviction that today's meeting, as well as the entire visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Defence to Kazakhstan, will be a turning point for intensifying cooperation in the defence sector.

- Today, we signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of military-technical cooperation between Kazakhstan and Serbia, and thus legally defined everything we have done in these few days. Kazakhstan is very interested in the modernization of its air defence systems which we can provide, they are interested for us to enter the third markets together, they are interested in examining investment opportunities in our defence industry, and they are especially interested in transferring technologies and in  our experiences when it comes to defence industry, Vulin said.

Vulin added that the topic of the talks was the cooperation of the two militaries.

- I underlined once again that Serbia will continue with its previous policy, the policy led by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, and that is military neutrality. We will continue to cooperate with both NATO and the CSTO, and this is a policy that Kazakhstan understands very well and welcomes when Serbia is in question. And here we received support from President Nazarbayev's administration to continue our cooperation and that Kazakhstan is ready to continue the policy of not recognizing Kosovo and Metohija and supporting Serbia in all international forums on Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Vulin said.

- Out of this visit, the citizens of Serbia can expect new investments, we can expect that we will also learn something, but also that Serbia has another friend, Minister Vulin concluded at the end of his visit to Kazakhstan.
