Military Neutrality Remains the Orientation of Serbia
Answering reporters’ question on the statement of Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs who said that the EU future of the countries exercising with Russia was brought into question, Minister Vulin underlined that the Latvian official was not the first trying to manage our foreign policy and was not the first trying to decide what our military should do, and that he would also not be the last who would fail in his intent and who would understand that we autonomously decide on our foreign policy and independently decide on our military cooperation.
- We are a military neutral country, and we will exercise with everybody from whom we can learn something, which means both the representatives of NATO and the representatives CSTO and with the representatives of the US Armed Forces, and with the representatives of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The Serbian Armed Forces will implement the policy of the state leadership, and the state leadership has clearly formulated that the state of Serbia is a military neutral country. Accordingly, no one can define, for any reason, with whom we will exercise, or learn from or what we will do. Our military is a guarantee of stability and security of not only Serbia but of the entire region, and it is such, among other, because it is neutral, and we will continue strengthening our military, and we will continue arming our military, we will continue improving financial state of our members and we will be a guarantee of peace and stability for the entire area. I see no reason why we would change our state policy and we will not change our state policy. We will certainly continue paying attention to our interests at the first place and we have no intention of imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation, just like we have no intention to participate in the conflicts of the great which are not our conflicts – Minister Vulin concluded.
