Marking St. Vitus’s Day in Kruševac
The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, accompanied by the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Ljubiša Diković, laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Heroes of the Battle of Kosovo in the centre of the town of Kruševac, on the occasion of marking 628th anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo.
Vučić stated that “we have to defend and cherish the two greatest values, the independence and freedom of Serbia and its citizens, because we have won our freedom and it was not given to us by great powers”.
According to his words, St. Vitus’s Day is “the day of glory, honour and victory, the day when we demonstrated readiness, courage and military capability”.
-Such St. Vitus’s, glorious history in particular. It has to be an incentive, we have to draw strength from it, and we have to find will in it and dedication to a great cause and courage for great feats. Because where we come from determines who we are and where we are going - Vučić pointed out.
The organiser of commemorative celebration was the Board for Cherishing the Tradition of Liberation Wars of the Government of Serbia in cooperation with the town of Kruševac.
