Defence system bills at National Assembly Sitting



Within the Fifth Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2017, which is held today, several bills presented by Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic were reviewed.
 
The Bill on the Confirmation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations on Contributing Resources to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania, Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Government of Montenegro, Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the establishment of the Balkan Military Medical Forces, Bill on the Confirmation of the Defence Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Slovak Republic and Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on Military-Technical Cooperation were on the agenda of the Session today.
 
Minister Djordjevic emphasized that Agreements on cooperation with Slovakia and Belarus are necessary in order to further develop and improve defence and military technical cooperation.
 
Talking about the significance of participation of our country in regional and international organizations, the Defence Minister said that by taking part in the Balkan Military Medical Forces Serbia recognized the importance of regional partnerships and resources sharing.

 
“Participation in the mentioned Forces contributes to a large extent to development of bilateral relations, establishment, collaboration and trust in the region of the Western Balkans, as well as the enhancement of its own defence capacities and capabilities for the active participation in the processes of cooperation and joint activities with other countries and factors of international relations in establishing national, regional and global security”, Minister Djordjevic said.
 
He highlighted the importance and benefit which Serbia got by participation in multinational operations because by the use of members of our Armed Forces Serbia joins the countries which actively take part in building and keeping peace and stability in the world.
 
“Serbia strengthens its security, contributes to peace and stability in the world, as well as peaceful resolution of all matters in dispute by confirmation of readiness to engage members of the Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operations. Serbia officially becomes the contributor of forces in multinational operation MINUSCA by confirmation of the proposed Memorandum and the equal partner with other countries, which are contributors of forces”, Defence Minister stressed.
 

The Fifth Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia was attended by the ministers in the Serbian Government.              
 
Before the Session of the National Assembly, the Fifth Sitting of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee was held. The Committee reviewed the mentioned bills. The Session was attended by Minister Djordjevic, Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Defence Policy Milan Mojsilovic, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Defence Policy Sector Navy Captain Milan Konjikovac, Acting Head of the Military Health Department Colonel Ugljesa Jovicic and Deputy Head of the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Colonel Nikola Dejanovic.
