Meeting of Minister Djordjevic with General Hodges
The Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic met today with the Commanding General of the United States Army in Europe Lieutenant General Frederick Hodges, who is visiting the Republic of Serbia.
Mr. Djordjevic and General Hodges talked about bilateral military cooperation, where the conduct of joint exercises focused on the enhancement of operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces has special significance.
“We are very satisfied with bilateral military cooperation with the US and it is not rarity that both sides assess military-to-military relations as the most developed segment of total bilateral relations of our countries”, Mr. Djordjevic stressed.
The collaboration in the field of engineer units training and development of the South Base were emphasized as kinds of the excellent cooperation between two sides. Training in CBRN Centre in Krusevac was discussed as one of the models of the future cooperation.
Lieutenant General Hodges expressed very positive impressions about the cooperation of the US Army in Europe with the Serbian Armed Forces and emphasized the outstanding professionalism and competence of members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. He stressed the importance of joint exercises and training of the Army members of two countries with the expectation that the quality and quantity of joint exercises, as well as other fields of cooperation, would be kept at a high level.
During his visit to the Republic of Serbia, Lieutenant General Hodges had a separate meeting with the Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic, the Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, the Head of the Military Academy Major General Goran Zekovic and he gave a lecture at the Military Academy to representatives of the National Defence School.
