Meeting of Minister Djordjevic with Chief of General Staff of UAE
The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic has met with the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi.
During conversation it was concluded that good political relations between two countries represented the basis for establishing better defence cooperation. The possible fields of its development and intensification are military economic and scientific technical, as well as military-to-military collaboration, which was discussed in details at the meeting of the Chiefs of General Staff of Serbia and UAE.
Minister Djordjevic presented to his interlocutor military educational, military medical, research, development and test capacities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and expressed the readiness to present to partner countries the Serbian potential for cooperation in the field of defence technology and work on the joint projects of research, development and production.
Mr.Djordjevic emphasized that the improvement of capacities of the Serbian defence industry companies was seen as the driving force of industry development of the whole country and enhancement of its technological basis.
During the meeting security challenges nowadays were also discussed. The belief was mutually expressed that, with joint efforts of the international coalition, there would be normalization and improvement of security situation in those countries that the Islamic State operates in. Mr. Djordjevic said that the contribution of Serbia to fight against this international threat was mainly the readiness to exchange information of intelligence-security services because it is vitally important to provide joint preventive actions.
Therefore, the topic of the conversation was the phenomenon of migrant crisis, which showed the mutual connection of territorially remote regions and confirmed the fact that security challenges are so intertwined that security of a region cannot be considered separately from the rest of the world, Minister Djordjevic said. He highlighted that despite not being the EU member, but only its candidate, Serbia strives to acts as the responsible member of the international community and responds adequately to the current crisis, in which the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed forces are the strong support to other state authorities.
