Preparation for “Steel 2017” at Nikinci ground



The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic with associates have attended at Nikinci ground the preparation for the upcoming central ceremony on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day and Victory Day, which is going to be held at this ground on Tuesday the 9th May.

Talking about the scenario of the central ceremony, Minister Djordjevic announced that on this occasion live firing with artillery and missile systems would be carried out, as well as manoeuvres of tanks, aircraft and infantry armament.

“Members of the armed and police forces will participate in displays, and our citizens will have the opportunity to see what our military has, as well as capacities of the new products of the Serbian Defence Industry through live TV stream. A great number of devices and their performance will be shown to the public for the first time”, Minister Djordjevic emphasized, adding that the ceremony at Nikinci, besides the members of the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, will be attended by the state officials, the ministers in the Government, representatives of the military and diplomatic corps, as well as foreign guests.
 
The central ceremony called “Steel 2017” will be marked by the attractive programme with a special emphasis on the display of the reached level of development of armament and defence equipment from the development programme of the Military Technical Institute, the companies of the Serbian Defence Industry Group and Yugoimport SDPR with live firing.

On this occasion one can see performance and capacities of the devices including the multipurpose armoured vehicles “Milos” and “Lazar”, “Morava” and “Oganj” systems, the self-propelled howitzer “Nora”, as well as a new model of a modular rifle, a universal mobile artillery work station, and the system “Alas” will be presented to the general public for the first time.
 
Within the programme dedicated to the display of competence of a part of the Serbian Armed Forces units, there will also be the display of resolving a hostage situation, which will be jointly performed by the members of “Cobras” of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Ministry of the Interior. The programme includes sorties of the Air Force and Air Defence aircraft.
