Chief of General Staff laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala
On the occasion of the 23rd April - the Serbian Armed Forces Day, Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic accompanied by the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Major General Ranko Zivak and Chief of Logistics Department Brigadier General Zelјko Ninkovic has laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala.
On that occasion, General Dikovic wrote the following in the Memorial book: "With pride we remember the brave rebels, who paved the way of the Serbian people for freedom in 1815 and celebrated its libertarian tradition. Proud of our ancestors, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces mark this day with the special respect for liberators in the Second Serbian Uprising. For the modern Serbian state and the strong Serbian Armed Forces.”
The Serbian Armed Forces celebrate 23rd April as its holiday to mark the day when, on Palm Sunday in 1815, the decision was made to raise the Second Serbian Uprising to liberate Serbia from the Ottoman Empire, which later enabled the creation of the modern Serbian state and the armed forces.
