New apartments for defence system members
The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic presented today in the Great War Hall of the old General Staff members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces with keys of 26 apartments. The allotted apartments are in Belgrade, Kragujevac, Raska, Novi Sad, Gornji Milanovac, Vrsac and Subotica.
Congratulating the new apartment owners, Minister Djordjevic said that in the following period the Ministry of Defence would endeavour to solve the problem of housing of its members in much faster and more efficient way.
“Last year we had 756 members of the defence system who solved the problem of housing. This year we will try to exceed that number, but it will still not content all members who have been waiting for the key of their apartment. Besides providing apartments, the Ministry of Defence is trying to solve this problem in other ways, for example by subsidized credit.
He emphasized the cooperation with local governments and endeavours to enable them to buy locations from the Master Plan according to more favourable conditions, so that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces can provide new apartments. According to the Minister, the Master Plan is in the phase of drafting a new proposal and there will be endeavours to offer the local governments a different way of property assessment and standstill period, when they will not have to pay anything.
“That model will be good for the development of local governments, our country and the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces”, Minister Djordjevic stressed.
Since the beginning of 2017, 97 members of the defence system have been provided with an apartment whereas around 12.500 have not still solved the housing issue.
