Launching Ramp and Missiles for NEVA on the Remembrance Day

As part of the activities organised by the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces to mark the Remembrance Day of victims of NATO aggression, a launching ramp 5P73 and missiles 5V27D/U were displayed in the exterior of the Military Museum on Kalemegdan. The launching ramp and the missiles belong to combat set of the rocket system S-125 (NEVA – SAN3), which shot down the plane “F-117” during the NATO aggression in 1999, and they were placed as museum exhibits to testify about the said event.

The presentation of the exhibits was attended by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Nenad Nerić, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, members of the combat crew of 3rd Rocket battalion of 250th AD Rocked Brigade of the Yugoslav Armed Forces who had shot down the “invisible plane” as well as numerous visitors.

State Secretary Nerić said that „it is not easy remembering the difficult moments and opening the old wounds, because there are some wounds that never heal, just like there are some moments that cannot be forgotten”.

-Although that period seems to be distant, for many of us the memories are still fresh. Let this museum exhibit be a symbol of live of all those who are no longer with us. Let the homage that we pay to the fallen soldiers, policemen and civilians, be a silent witness of the tragic events. It is our duty and obligation, because of the generations that will come, to keep the difficult moments of the bombardment from oblivion by marking 24th March and to preserve the memories of those who are no longer with us desiring that such time never again repeat – said Mr Nerić.

According to his words, by displaying that rocket system in the exterior permanent exhibition of the Military Museum “we are enriching our legacy with another future cultural good that will be seen by both our and foreign public”.

-Let us allow time to heal the wounds. Remembering the victims of the NATO aggression in 1999 will not prevent us from that. May they endure past their time, since they have intertwined their being into an endless chain of what we inherit – pointed out State Secretary Nerić.
