Meeting with the Ambassador of Iran
The Minister of Defence, Mr Zoran Đorđević and the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Hossein Molla Abdollahi talked today about the promotion of the cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence.
The interlocutors agreed that there existed a mutual interest in strengthening the bilateral relations, and that the military medicine and military education were the key areas where the cooperation could be developed. The Minister of Defence, Mr Zoran Đorđević underlined that Serbia endeavoured to cooperate with all the countries dedicated to the policy of peace, observation of international law, territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
In that sense, the Ministry of Defence continues leading a balanced defence policy and incessantly works on further enhancement of defence relations with all the states and international organisations, in line with defined national interests. Moreover, Mr Đorđević said that the current migrant crisis had showed the mutual links that existed even between very distant regions, and that security challenges were intertwined so much so that the security of one region could not be considered in isolation from the rest of the world. Having that in mind, the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, through their engagement in the Joint Forces of the Serbian Armed Forces and Police, provide a strong support to mitigating the consequences of the migrant crisis.
Minister Đorđević expressed his gratitude one more time for the principled support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to legitimate efforts of Serbia for the preservation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
