St. Sava’s days in Serbian military education
The ceremony “Saint Sava’s days in the Serbian military education” was held tonight in the Crypt of the Temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade, attended by the Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and the Serbian Patriarch Irinej.
The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Minister Djordjevic said that the ceremony tonight had shown a deep connection between the Armed Forces, Church and nation.
“We will continue with this tradition in the coming years, and tonight we also realized that citizens had shown interest in this. We would like to send the message that the Armed Forces and Church are with their people, and that education is the most powerful weapons for the Serbian Armed Forces”, the Defence Minister said.
According to the Patriarch Irinej, the significance of the ceremony tonight is in the fact that “this is the first time, after many years, that the nation participates in marking Saint Sava’s day”.
The Head of the Military Academy Major General Goran Zekovic reminded of the course of history of the military education and said that “tonight the youth of the military schools is showing their talents, how to love the country in songs, verse and oration and they convince us that they are ready to prove it at any moment by defending the country, in their future jobs”.
The ceremony “Saint Sava’s days in the Serbian military education” has been organized by Television “Temple” and Belgrade University of Defence, and the cadets of the Military Academy and the MMA Faculty of Medicine, the students of the Military High School, the Military Vocational School and the Reserve Officers Course and the members of the Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binicki” took part in the artistic programme.
