Defence Minister in Nis



The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and the Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic met tonight in the Land Forces Command in Nis to discuss the current situation in the country caused by snow and strong wind.
 
At the meeting, they discussed the situation and passability of the roads in the Ground Safety Zone and the part of the state border with Bulgaria, Macedonia and Montenegro, as well as the engagement of the Army units so far in rendering assistance to local population affected by natural disasters.
 
The conclusion of the meeting is that the roads are hardly passable, but the situation is completely under control.

“The situation on the state border and in the Ground Safety Zone is regular. 31 engineering machines are currently engaged whereas another 25 are on full alert in Nis and in the vicinity”, Minister Djordjevic said.
 
Upon the appeal of the Mayor of Presevo, two engineering machines have been engaged on the route Rnatovac-Madjera-Ilince and in Ljafet Mahala whereas a tank for drawing and two engineering machines are available in Nis upon the request of the Sector for emergency situations. The members of the Serbian Armed Forces will be also engaged tomorrow on clearing the roads to the villages of Rujnik, Leskovik, Cerije and Kravlje Velepolje.
 
Tomorrow Minister Djordjevic will pay a visit to the members of the Joint Military and Police Force in Svrljig, Knjazevac, Minicevo and Kadibogaz.
