Day of 1st Army Brigade marked



Обележен Дан Прве бригаде Копнене војскеWith a ceremony at the barracks “Jugovićevo” in Novi Sad the Day of 1st Army Brigade was marked today in presence of Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, the Prime Minister of Vojvodina Igor Mirović and mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević. The day of 1st Army Brigade is marked in memory of 9th November 1918 when the unit of 7th Infantry Regiment of the Armed Forces of Kingdom of Yugoslavia led by Major Vojislav Bugarski marched into Novi Sad. At the same time, with this ceremony, the 10th anniversary of the unit establishment was marked.

“In previous 10 years the members of 1st Army Brigade have invested their effort and devotion in numerous tasks in the function of preserving and improving operational capabilities. The engagement in securing the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija and control of the Ground Safety Zone, participation in multinational operations, performance of tasks related to providing assistance to citizens in relieving the consequences of natural disasters with training of commands, units and individuals represent a part of perennial activities of the unit” – said Brigadier General Željko Petrović, the Commander of 1st Army Brigade.
 
Обележен Дан Прве бригаде Копнене војскеCongratulating the Day of the unit, Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simović recognized the results of all members of 1st Army Brigade for what they have done and achieved in the prevous 10 years of existence. During ceremonial defile at the barracks “Jugovićevo” in Novi Sad General Simović presented the best members of the Brigade with awards and acknowledgements. The title of the best Brigade unit in 2016 in the crew-service rank was given to 2nd service of 3rd tank platoon in 2nd tank company of 15th tank battalion led by the Commander Staff Sergeant Goran Grgec.

The ceremony attended by representatives of Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, religious communities, veteran organizations, the Organization of Reserve Officers, companies and schools from Novi Sad ended with a parade of units, and the guests could see a technical display of arms and military equipment.
