Day of the Military Security Agency marked

Dan VBAA gala reception in the Old General Staff tonight marked the Day of the Military Security Agency.

The reception in the Great War Hall was attended by Defence Minister Zoran Đorđević, the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Serbia Milorad Simić, Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubiša Diković, state and military officials, the representatives of legislative, executive and judicial authorities, religious communities, diplomatic corps, and guests from cultural and public life.

The Director of the Military Security Agency Brigadier General Petar Cvetković stressed that the Military Security Agency had performed its planned, regular and emergent tasks timely and completely in accordance with the rules stipulated by law.

Дан ВБА“In the first place, we are focused on security of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, other state authorities and institutions, as well as protection of all citizens of our country”, said the Director of the Military Security Agency and added that frequently, due to nature of its work, the efforts and measures undertaken by the Agency cannot be presented to the public in a manner which would represent its pith.

Therefore, as General Cvetković stated, there is often no chance to publicly recognize the remarkable results of individuals while performing complex tasks.

“I can assure you that the Military Security Agency is always ready and capable in personnel and technical terms to adequately and timely respond to security challenges, risks and threats” – emphasized General Cvetković, who presented individuals and organizations with plaques in gratitude for successful cooperation.

The Military Security Agency Day is celebrated to commemorate 12 November 1839 when the first martial law in the Principality of Serbia was adopted, in which are mentioned acts of treason, espionage, rebellion and other acts that threaten to jeopardize the army and the state.
