Meeting with the Russian Ambassador
Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and the Russian Ambassador Aleksandar Chepurin discussed various areas of defence cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting they discussed the upcoming joint military exercises, as well as the military aspects of the visit of the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to the Republic of Serbia.
The officials noted that general and political relations between Serbia and Russia are progressing, which intensified also cooperation in the field of defence. In this way, the relationships defined by the Declaration on Strategic Partnership are fully validated.
At the meeting they discussed the participation of the delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces at the "Army 2016" International Military-Technical Forum in Kubinka, which will significantly step up the military and technical cooperation projects in the period to come.
Minister Djordjevic once again thanked Russia for the support it had offered to Serbia in the fight to preserve its territorial integrity and sovereignty in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, and also for the support to Serbia’s efforts to achieve full membership of the EU as a foreign policy priority, simultaneously with excellent relations with all partners in the East and the West.
