General Dikovic on an official visit to Italy
General Ljubisa Dikovic, Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, who heads the delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces on an official visit to Italy, met today in Rome with General Claudio Graziano, Chief of Defence Staff of the Italian Armed Forces.
General Dikovic discussed with the first man of the Italian Armed Forces the possibilities to enhance bilateral military cooperation in a wide range of areas of mutual interest – from training and exercises of special units, through joint participation in peacekeeping operations, to military-educational and military and economic cooperation between Serbia and Italy. They also talked about the current security situation in the region and the world.Chief of SAF General Staff expressed satisfaction with the excellent cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the Italian Armed Forces in Sector West of the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon, where the force protection platoon from our armed forcesis engaged within the composition of the Italian contingent.
During his visit, General Dikovic talked with Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Commander of the Italian Joint Special Forces Operations HQ about joint training of special units in the Italian Army General Staff.
The delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces will visit the headquarters of the European Union Naval Force – Mediterranean Operation Sophia, Air Force Flight Test Centre and the Ninth Aviation Brigade at Pratica di Mare Air Force Base and the Leonardo-Finmeccanica defence company headquarters.
